a knitting pattern even I can follow

I have to tell you these are few and far between and where they do exist, they seldom lead to anything I would even slightly want to make. But at a lovely website called natural suburbia I often find knitting patterns that are easy AND make beautiful things.

Last week it’s creator, Linda, posted a wonderfully simple tutorial for a knitted heart. You can find it here. Hers are red with white embellishments, hung as ornaments, while mine are grey and plain like little knitted pebbles that just happen to be heart shaped.

I haven’t decided what to do with them yet, though I can hardly stop myself from knitting more and more. Maybe I’ll just leave them as pebbles.

Thank you Linda!

  • Yay for the pebbles.
May I suggest, laying them down as a river bed, and running a slim blue silk through the middle as a creek.
Perhaps you need one of your Summer fairies to do a spot of fishing in it!

  • That is really adorable and it does look easy. I’m more of a crocheter than a knitter but I like to try easier knitting projects. Thanks for the link!

  • Ooh, love them. There would be lots of ways to use them! I like the way you arranged them on the pink fabric, I also think Jo’s idea sounds adorable – having a little fairy fishing for hearts.

Maybe you could run a thread through a few of them (top to bottom) to create a chain of hearts, as a decoration? Maybe have them in a rainbow of colours.

  • Dear Anna, thank you so much for all your sweet comments you leave on my blog, to always wonderful to receive your little message. Your little hearts are adorable, I happen to have Linda’s page open as a reminder to knit a couple of those little hearts for valentines. I love her patterns they are so easy. I am presently learning how to knit socks and I’m making a doll for Sasha so have been away from the computer to try and get these done before his birthday next month. I am running out of time. I am sure you have a valentines or some valentines to share your little hearts with. Am off to see the rest of your posts. xxx

  • Dear Anna

Emily, such lovely ideas. I think I will try a chain next :)

Jeanene, it’s a pleasure! How I would love to be able to knit socks but the patterns for them nearly make me cry. I think I would actually need someone to sit down and show me, very patiently and slowly, how you do the heel bit. Good luck with getting Sasha’s birthday gifts ready!

    Linda, it’s my pleasure.

    And thank you Samantha!

  • Oh, they are so cute. I too tried this pattern out and am amazed that it came out. Yours do like petals and would look lovely in a glass bowl on a table maybe even atop those clear flat marbles in various colors – just a thought.

  • [...] Also some of my old faithful knitted finger puppets and hearts. [...]
