The pin cushion I made the other day had wheat berries in it to weigh it down a little bit. But I’ve since discovered I need to send my pin cushion to the US! I don’t like the odds of wheat berries getting through all the scans between here and there, so I’ve had another try, this time using felted jumper scraps and ordinary stuffing.
The jumper felt I had was dark blue so I embroidered the corner of the cushion with seaweed and fish…

Then I made a little felt boat on a pin…

It needed somewhere to moor so I needlefelted a small island with trees…

The trees are on pins so you can move them around the island which is oddly satisfying. (Yes, I am well aware of what they say about tiny things and who they please…)

Then I tried a blue whale in two pieces. I’m not sure how successful this was though. Perhaps it should be just the tail, since that’s often all you can see of a whale? Both pieces are on pins so I think I shall leave it to the recipient to decide.

And this is how it all comes together.

The beautiful blogs of Mimi Kirchner and Melissa at tiny happy are inspiring my pin-cushiony creations.
I have posted this at the magic onions.
Love it
Wow Anna, another absolutely stunning pin cushion. I love it.
Sweet!! It’s a pincushion landscape!
Soo cute! I’ve joined the pincushion swap now too thanks to you
I love your pin cushions but would never
be able to bring myself to poke even a tiny pin in it!!!! Thanks for the links.
I enjoy a bit of “tiny happy” myself.
I am making tiny teddies with rainbow
tummies inspired by your space dolls
at the moment.
Your whale is a big success.
Oh Anna, are you sure you don’t want to swap with me? …
sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute
So cool, cheers Marie
The whale is the BEST bit! I love the spray coming out! I saw dolphins yesterday at the beach and this cushion reminded me of them. (And the fish reminded me of sushi. sorry.) x
What a wonderful pincushion, I love all of the details!! ~April
How fun is that? Love it!
Anna, I fell in love with the pin cushion with the baby and this one is just as beautiful. I think it is so amazing how you just let your imagination go and create something very unique!
Ah! Another stunner. I am particularly fond of the trees, they remind me of beautiful green lollipops
Oh my BOB!
Simply splendid sweetness, and so useful!!! Anna, a perfect blend of the two!
Oh my,, look at this precious little pin cushion. Anna, you are creating beautiful things with those magical hands of yours. I love it. I should try to make something like this for my boys even at their age I know they would be amused by the way those little pins move around – they can watch ants for about 2 hours! We have been moving house so haven’t much blogging time but I am glad I stopped by for a quick visit. xxx
Simply beautiful…lovely work!
