Normally Ashley and I are both people who work in solitude, he on his music and I on my writing and making, but our Sunday afternoon somehow lent itself to pottering around together at my place. He had his OP1 (don’t ask, I won’t know) and I have a small collection of pentatonic instruments, most of which have come over the years from Epoche, including this lyre and glockenspiel which are two of a few of my favourite things.
So while he experimented with them and recorded some beautiful bits and pieces, I did some sewing. I started a new mermaid this week and her tail needed some little gold scales.
Much inspired by some of the perfectly slightly-imperfect handmade soft toys I saw in Japan that were so, so lovely to hold, I’ve stuffed her very loosely with sheep’s wool instead of packing it tightly as I usually would. She feels so nice in the hands, I think.
She and I both appreciated the soundtrack.
When her tail was finished I started work on a baby mermaid for her.
When they’re finished I’ll show you if you like. In the meantime, I hope you’ve been having a lovely weekend too x
