B-grade day

Today has been a bit of a B-grade day. I was thinking about that and wondering how B-grade is actually defined, but even my usual A-grade definition seeking tool (google define) has turned out to be B-grade, offering only a wikipedia definition for a B-grade film, as follows:

‘A B movie is a low-budget commercial motion picture conceived neither as an arthouse film nor as pornography. In its original usage, during the so-called Golden Age of Hollywood, the term more precisely identified a film intended for distribution as the less-publicized, bottom half of a double feature.’

It is true that there hasn’t been much in the way of art in my day. It has been low-budget. Utterly unpornographic. Very little about it worth distributing or publicising.

I like the last part of the definition best though. Its a cheering thought that this could be just the bottom half of a double feature in an otherwise golden age.

Roll on tomorrow eh?
