I know that the convention in the blogging world, if you’re going to have a regular feature on your blog, is to make the theme begin with the same letter as the day, e.g. Trippy Tuesdays, Thankful Thursdays, Freebie Fridays. But since a) I do not plan on any regular features for my blog and b) I can’t think of a synonym for cheerful that begins with ‘Th’ … Cheerful Thursday it is.
So. Here are some reasons why I am cheerful today.
1. Florence (cat) actually spent the night in the bed I bought for her yesterday! I have bought her at least three beds in the past and she has always either peed in them almost immediately or else just turned her nose up at them, choosing instead to press her fur into the projects in my sewing basket. She also likes to attempt to recline in one of the flower pots in my garden, which are approximately a third of her own body mass, killing whatever I am attempting to grow there and making me look like a neglectful cat owner who has not bought their cat a bed. So this is an unusual and excellent outcome for us both.
2. I had two lovely emails from my editor at Walker yesterday, one passing on some nice feedback from a seven-year-old reader on my first Violet story (often the toughest critics, I’m told, so I was delighted) and the other making a surprise suggestion for the presentation of the book which is yet another slight dream come true for me.
3. The Melbourne Writers Festival is coming up and K and I are planning which bits we will attend. So exciting.
I hope you’re having a cheerful Thursday too.
