Probably everyone but me has read this before, but an English Minister, Matthew Henry (1662-1714), is said to have offered this prayer after having his wallet stolen:
I thank thee, first, because I was never robbed before;
second, because although they took my wallet they did not take my life
third, because although they took my all, it was not much
and fourth because it was I who was robbed, and not I who robbed.
Just in case you were kind enough to worry, my own wallet is fine. I was just thinking about the nature of prayer and reading a little bit about it.
